So today I was awoken with quite a nice surprise: a new stove to be put in my kitchen. I am a tad on the disappointed side, I was hoping that instead, they could just fix my stove which is surely from the 60's. Pea green and with push buttons in place of knobs, this stove is a treasure, or at least to only me obviously. So as I watched them quite literally ROLL the old stove down the hill, I could only help but think, "well, I can make spaghetti now...
I decided that this recent hurtful loss in my life deserved some comfort food, so after picking up a shovel from my grandfather (garden is gonna start going up!), I called my friend and co-worker Stew and we proceeded to walk all the way from my house to the Coldstone on High st. and I indulged in the most delicious German chocolate treat. Though the walk back was strenuous and much warmer than the breezy walk to the shop, I was well needed exercise; I will be walking that everyday next semester, I better buck up
Speaking of next semester, my brother will be starting at Clemson, so sorry to all my friends at USC, but Tigers are now my number two. I find it funny that my brother is going for engineering, has been accepted to the honors college, but of course it is the good fishing that he is most excited about...figures. AND speaking of family (like that transition?), my mother is already making blog suggestions. I get a flustered call from my mother early in the morning claiming that she "has a great idea", deep breath....and here we go. She feels as though I should start a blog named "The Year I Listened to My Mother". Is it just me or does that seem a little convenient for her? She wants me to do everything and follow all of her advice for a year as if I generally don't. I doubt it will happen but I'd like to know what you think.
Anywho, it is sweltering in this living room so I think I will retire to the porch for some reading then bed. Tomorrow the digging of the garden begins! wish me luck.
Till next time,
JCL
i miss your old pea-green stove now... and i never even knew it existed before. i love stuff old stuff like that. AND now that you have a functioning stove i'll have to put up my post with "nonna's" zucchini dishes.
ReplyDeleteif you actually went through with your mom's idea i could see it being both hilarious and poignant. and i can't promise i wouldn't try to find a way to contact your mom and have her make you do really absurd things.
good luck with your garden! i was supposed to be working with my dad on his this summer, so i'm jealous.
